Introduction

Gaynor
Evelyn Sweeney, is a dynamic activist in contemporary
arts and cultural practice. She originates from a Fine
Art background, commissioned by Local Authorities in Cheshire
and Devon. Her work evolved into Live Art and New Digital
Media to create art with a scientific and technological
interest, as well as her synonomous live performance interventions
in the Louvre (Paris), Tate Modern (London), MOMA (New
York) and many others.
From
a Lecturer in universities to Consultant and Researcher,
she has also worked in several outreach programmes and
community initiatives to bring art to the wider audience
of the general public. Through her creative and professional
practice she advocates the research and development of
contemporary art practice, combined with an interest in
critical theory, and further expressed as a philosopher
and writer for several publication in England and abroad.
She
has exhibited in the Liverpool Biennial, Venice Biennial,
Hong Kong Biennial and Berlin Kunst Salon, as well as
many more exhibitions, performance platforms, festivals
and digital film screenings.
She
has founded and managed several international art and
cultural programmes and enabled artists to pariticpate
and collaborate in exchange programmes and learn about
others cultures. These have included TransVoyeur (UK),
Gesquoi and other collective initiatives and projects.
